The Haddon Matrix is a framework for injury prevention devised by physician William Haddon that classifies prevention strategies across three factors, the person, the vehicle or agent involved, and the environment, and across three time phases, before an injury event, during it and after it, producing a grid that analysts use to locate where a given intervention, such as a seatbelt law or a road redesign, actually acts.
