Jerry Morris 1953 comparison of London bus conductors, who worked standing and moving through double decker buses, against bus drivers, who sat for the shift, finding conductors had markedly lower rates of heart disease. It is regarded as one of the first studies to demonstrate a population level link between physical activity and cardiovascular health.
