The World Health Organization's global framework for routine childhood vaccination, launched in May 1974. It originally targeted seven vaccine-preventable diseases (tuberculosis, poliomyelitis, measles, smallpox, diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis) with a goal of protecting children worldwide by 1990, and national governments have adopted the framework to build their own routine immunization schedules.
