Mosquito nets treated with insecticide, slept under in places where malaria is present. Together with indoor residual spraying they are one of the two core vector control interventions in malaria control and elimination strategies, highly effective in preventing infection and reducing disease transmission. Their effect is threatened by emerging resistance to insecticides among Anopheles mosquitoes, and new generation nets that provide better protection against malaria than pyrethroid only nets are becoming more widely available.
